Asleep at the switch? I wasn’t asleep, I was drunk! – SPF 06/30/06

30 06 2006

This week Mr. Random and Odd has taken over Stuff Portrait Friday… will the madness never end!?
In his infinite wisdom he has asked for some very special items this week, complete with instructions.

1. Something with a story behind it. – Photograph something that has a story behind it. And yes, you might have to actually write a little bit on this one. Good, sad, funny, made-up….does it really matter? It IS the internet. Be creative.

2. A Random and Odd photo. – Pick anything. A picture you’ve taken, one that you’ve found on the net. Doesn’t matter. I’m making the rules, so don’t tell me what your usual blogger tells you to do! For this picture, the reader on your blog needs to write a story or caption for your picture, so get something unique.

3. In keeping with the recurring wedding theme, a photo of something borrowed. – This is pretty self-explanatory.

Ok Shaun, boo for making us all think, but yay for keeping it fun :)
Without further ado, here are my entries.

Did you play?

SPF pictures OR How do I hate blogger, let me count the ways.

1. Something with a story behind it.

Have you ever seen the art done by elephants? Pretty neat eh?

This is not one of those.

Wouldn’t it be crazy if it was…

This is what we having hanging on our living room wall. A few years ago I was visiting my mother and we went yard sailing. I saw something that was, at least in my eyes, gorgeous. A mosaic horse coffee table. How can you go wrong with a mosaic horse coffee table? You can’t, that’s how! :) I brought it home where The Hubband and I realized we already had a perfectly good coffee table and were unwilling to get rid of either one. So we took the legs off and hung it on the wall. And there it stays. I find the neverending stare comforting. Or unsettling, I can’t decide.

2. A Random and Odd photo. – Actually two…just because.

Ladies and Gentlemen, start your engines! This is all yours.

3. Something borrowed.

Our friends Joan and Nick have a delightful collection of movies and TV shows on DVD. As a result The Hubband and I are frequent “renters” at the Jick Video Store. This is one of our rentals that is way past due!

27 06 2006

The last few days have been pretty hectic. I went back to work last Tuesday and didn’t get a chance to participate in “Stuff Portrait Friday“, “Saturday Photo Hunt” and “Weekend Words Challenge“.
This annoys me greatly, as I had every intention of doing them this week but my camera died. So, now that it is better I am doing them all now. So there.

Let us begin -
SPF – Kristine wanted to see Your Drinking Glasses, Your Address Book or Stationary, and Something New.

My Drinking Glasses

I cannot do much of anything with out my glasses, let alone drink! I have very bad eyes and my friends like to wear my glasses sometimes because it makes the ground look like it is coming up towards you. They call them “drunk glasses”. :)

My Address Book

The book on the bottom is all addresses and phone numbers that I started for our wedding. The book on top is actually one of my journals, but I wrote phone numbers in the back so I can take it with me.

Something New

This is the way awesome coin purse I bought for 3 dollars a couple weekends ago.

Weekend Words Challenge

27 06 2006

This weekend Mr. Odd gave us the words “Hunger” and “Satisfy”. He also gave these words of adivce “Have fun and don’t go with the obvious. Surprise us.”

So hopefully that is what I did.

Happy Birthday baby!

25 06 2006

Today The Boy turns three.

Thats right, I said THREE!

Holy sweet corn salsa, it seems like just yesterday I was holding him in the hospital.

Happy birthday to my baby. :)

19 06 2006

We had a simply mah-va-lous time at “The Last Supper” this weekend. Here is but a taste of the joy that was had.

After we were finished with our appetizers, I noticed that my father had soup splattered all over his white shirt.

I used this fact to tease him, “you can dress him up…”

He seemed to think that was unfair so he waited until his meal came and dumped it in my lap.

Thanks Dad.

* a phrase that I actually had cause to use this weekend.

We’re off to see the wizard…

17 06 2006

We are leaving soon! It is almost 7 am and we are going to my parents house at 8. yay. I am actually quite excited about this. I love “The Last Supper”, I get to see a lot of the family and eat. What could possibly be better than eating? Nothing, except maybe eating cake. Anyhoo, it should be fun, or horrific I can’t decide.

I have 2 presents to give while I am there… One belated birthday gift for my sister and one father’s day prezzie for my grammie. HA, you thought I was going to say father! Well I was, but I don’t want to be too predictable. Gotta shake things up! :)

Goodbye and goodluck!

SPF again! It seems I am looking forward to this more than eating and/or breathing…does that make me a bad person?
This week Kristine wanted to see – Your Puzzle, Your Best and Something Old. Holy High water pants! Lets get this wagon rolling…..

My Puzzle

This is my “arts and crafts” area. The puzzle would be, how in the name of all things holy can I get it to fit! It is so disorganized, messy and annoying.

My Best

This is the best thing I have ever done. Ever.

Something Old

As you may already know, The Hubband’s Grandma is here visiting and the other day we went to the Anne of Green Gables Park. I saw this gorgeous tree and had to have a picture of it. Little did I know how handy it would prove to be.

Just a note – My first idea for Something Old was The Hubband! He is 6 years older than me and just had his 30th birthday on the 14th. I have been teasing him about his age for a while so I didn’t think this was a good time. You will notice that it didn’t stop me from telling the internet about it :)

Did you play?

When our relatives are at home, we have to think of all their good points or it would be impossible to endure them.

15 06 2006

The Hubband’s Grandma is here visiting….for a week. Actually its not a bad thing at all. We are having quite a good time going around town showing her the sights. The only thing that could be better is if it would STOP RAINING for one damn second! Good lord, its been raining on and off since she got here on Monday. I am freaking hating the rain.

On saturday we are all going up home for “The Last Supper” which is when my Grammie takes the whole family out for dinner once a year. When Grandma decided to come visit we found out that “The Last Supper” was on her final day here so my family invited her along. Isn’t that special? You better believe it!

Debate is masculine, conversation is feminine. – Amos Bronson Alcott. WWC 06/12/06

12 06 2006

Its time for the Weekend Words Challenge from Mr. Odd himself over at The Odd Mix.
For my first time I got some tough words… Masculine and Feminine.
What to do? I went for a walk in search of something to photograph only to find not much that inspired me. Then I saw an old railing, all rusted and wiry that made me think.Heaven forbid I do any of that!

I started to think of the words as more abstract, rather than the typical image of a man or woman. Now I was on the hunt for something that would say what I wanted it to say. I am pleased to announce that I finally did, yeah for me! :)

Without further ado, here are my WWC Photos -

Masculine

My feelings about what is masculine – Stands alone while holding others up. Unflinching, remains the same and never shows the wear.

Feminine

Again what I feel about Femininity – Holds others up but becomes part of everyone she helps. Allows others to support her when needed. Shows some signs of wear but the foundation is strong.

This is my “Community” shot. I live in a community that is changing right before my eyes. This is just one of the many new buildings being constructed. They tell me that this will be Condos, I’m not sure whether or not I like that. And I’m not sure why! :)

Some peoples children.

9 06 2006

The Boy and I went for a walk today. We ended up at the park where there were 2 women with 3 kids between them. The Boy loves seeing other kids, poor thing has no friends. I only have 2 friends with children and we don’t see them very often so The Boy tends to lose out on the friends front.
As soon as he sees the other kids he starts running and wants to do what they are doing. They are swinging so The boy wants to swing. They go on the playset, The Boy goes on the play set.

Now, The Boy is being a delightful child with these kids. He puts his arm around one of the boys and talks to him and tells them his name, and keeps telling me that “The kids are gonna slide with me”. I am so happy that he is having fun.

Then the kids are ignoring The Boy and then one of them tells him to go away. To which my son says “No, I can’t go away” and keeps trying to get them to play with him. Then another boy shows up and he starts playing. The kid who told my son to go away starts talking about him to the other boy, saying “we Don’t like him. We don’t like him, do we?”

What kind of people are these? It was just so arbitrary and mean. My son is all about making friends and playing with anyone who will. He never gets discouraged, he would have kept on playing in and around those other kids with out batting an eye. I however am not so forgiving. We left soon after, I don’t want my child playing with kids like that.

Its so frustrating, why do kids have to be so mean?

Here it is again – Stuff Portrait Friday! How did a week go by so fast?So Kristine took her cue this week from the dictionary – ap·er·ture – and our assignment was – A wide open space – Brightness – In the dark. Ooh so open for interpretation, I can’t wait to see what the other folks came up with :) You should check them out too!

Without further ado, here are my *Masterpieces*

A Wide Open Space

This is our mailslot, a small, wide open space.

Brightness

In the Dark

The Hubband, who was in the dark both literally and figurativly when I took this picture. He was sleeping and when the camera flashed he woke up “Why all the light? What are you doing?” Ha ha, so he was “in the dark” as to why I was taking his picture in the middle of the night!BQotD from You Can’t Make It Up

The first half of our lives is ruined by our parents, and the second half by our children.

8 06 2006

The Boy is driving me completely insane. He has entered the lovely phase “I won’t listen to anything you say and will scream all day”. Delightful. Abso-fucking-lutly deelightful.
He has also decided that he will scream while he is laughing. The most annoying sound on the planet? A small child scream-laughing. Ow.
The other day he didn’t want to come inside, he wanted to stay in the car. Ok, I picked him up and tried to carry him inside. I stress tried. He squirmed so much I lost my grip and he fell and hit his head on the door. Way to go Mom.

I guess I won’t be getting that “Mother of the Year” award.

Today we went for a drive to run a couple of errands. I promised The Boy a treat if he would be quiet while I talked to someone. He screeched the entire time we were there, then tried to jump down every step on our way out. I picked him up and he freaked out the whole way to the car. I then informed him we would not be getting a treat and he would go straight to bed when we got home. So he rewarded me with a screaming rendition of “I want my treat!”, “We can’t go home! Home is bad!” and ” Don’t say no! No is yucky!”.

Can someone take him until he is 18, at which point I can release him into the wild?

*Eventually I recovered (because you never want to show fear to someone who you think may be possessed), and I smiled at her and told her I was fine, and then she smiled back at me, and then she licked my shoulder.*

“O bliss! O poop-poop! O my! O my!”

6 06 2006

A random story about my misspent youth.

This is actually about me when I was 2 or 3 years old. I never knew about this at all, I do not remember this happening and have never heard this story until yesterday when I was talking to my parents.

I was telling my mom and dad about The Boy and his adventures in potty training. Then my Dad mentioned “the time you pooped on the steps of the building supply store”…what, what? Apparently my parents, my uncle and aunt, their daughter and I were out and about one day walking the streets of Woodstock NB. I had to go to the bathroom but decided not to tell anyone. I simply walked up the steps of a store, hauled down my pants and dropped a doody on the landing. My cousin walked up and tried to go as well, then my dad and uncle saw us and kept walking! The pretended they didn’t have any idea who the weirdos defecating in public were. My mother and her sister came upon us and freaked! My poor poor mother. Not only having to admit that, yes this poopy child is hers but then having to clean up everything. I’m sorry mom…you can take comfort in knowing that your grandson is well on his way to driving me off the deep end too!

Then he came out of the bathroom with no pants on and his underwear on his head.

Sweet corn on the cob – It’s Stuff Portrait Friday! I can barely contain my excitement.

Now that I am cool (now really, if anything I was too cool before, but I digress) and have a digital camera I can do the fun stuff like play Stuff Portrait Friday! If you don’t know what that is float on over to Random and Odd and check it out. Kristine is a freaky genius photographer.

This week she wanted to see – Something Sparkly – Something Dull – Something Colourful.
Sounds easy enough, right? Well here are my very first SPF entries – Are you excited? I sure am.

Now bear with me as I am a horrible photographer….

Something Sparkly -

This is a Rosary I made as a gift for The Hubbands Godson. I realize you cannot see the “sparkly” but rest assured it is. Sparkly in a good way, not sparkly in a Sparkle Fairy Barbie Doll sort of way. Ooh so sparkly.

Something Dull – My walls. Not only are they “dull” in colour, but they are also “dull” as in boooring.

Something Colourful – My Ribbon! Yay for Ribbon. Isn’t it fantabulous? Oh yes, I lurve me some ribbon.

Did you play? If not go on and check out all the other players awesome photos! Go on, you can do it….its fuunnnnn.
